Mission, Texas- The Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) Harlequin Drama Team is advancing to the UIL state theatrical design competitions for the third year in a row. This year’s advancing team members are: Danielle Hallquist, Ben Garcia, Adamari Lara, Mason Smith-Loftus, Alexia Ruiz, Andre Hodgson.
The group entry requires the creative submissions in four areas of theatrical design. This includes: make-up and hair design, set design, costume design, and marketing design. A typical group entry will have 30 plates (design displays) and four essays. The team is one of 12 schools competing in the state for group design for all 5A and 6A schools.
The competition will be held in Austin the week of April 23.
Last year, one of the VMHS Harlequin finalists won the state competition. This also marks the sixth time VMHS Harlequin students have advanced to state in the past 8 years.
