VMHS student is state precision machining champ

Mission, Texas- Veterans Memorial High School student, Andrew Vela returned from the recent Texas SkillsUSA competitions with some serious bragging rights. He earned first place in the Precision Machining contest. This competition requires the students to complete mill work, lathe work, and machine shop mathematics.

While he did not place in the top three, fellow VMHS student, Diego C. Gonzalez also competed at the state level. The competitions were held in Corpus Christi, Texas.

This is the second time in recent years that the first place state finisher in this competition has come from VMHS.
