Mission CISD students competed in the Area 1- Special Olympics Spring Games (Track and Field) at Bobby Lackey Stadium in Weslaco on Friday April 26th and Saturday April 27th. The district had 83 athletes participate in the games which they had preparing for the last eight weeks and the hard work paid off. Our athletes brought home various gold, silver, and bronze medals. Furthermore, both of our relay teams received gold medals in their heats. All of our athletes represented the district with pride and integrity as they competed, smiled, and socialized with fellow competitors from across the Rio Grande Valley.
The competition had various events that included assisted walks, motorized wheel chair races, softball and tennis throws, standing long jumps, and races from 10 meters through 200 meters.
