MCISD parents recognized for their volunteerism

The 3rd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon was held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Krysta’s Event Center. Mrs. Nancy Villarreal, Family and Community Engagement Coordinator, recognized the Top Campus Parent Volunteers, Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council, School Health Advisory Officers, and District Advisory Officers.

“When you give of yourself and volunteer, research shows that the children are more connected to you, are proud of you, and they do better academically and emotionally,” said Dr. Carol Perez. “It also shows that not only are you making deposits in our faculty and in our children in their academic goals but at the same time you reap the benefits. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for taking the challenge to come and assist us because you are making a great difference.”

During the luncheon a special check presentation was made to Mission CISD that reflected the amount of dollars the district saved in work hours through the parent volunteer program. The district had a savings of over $141,834.95 as a result of these great parent volunteers.
