Mission CISD had several athletes that were nominated for various prestigious distinctions as part of the All Valley Sports Awards Banquet on June 13th. Veterans Memorial High School athlete, Landry Gilpin, was the recipient of two of the awards. He was named Football Player of the Year and Sub-6A Male Athlete of the Year.
All the nominees for All Valley Sports Awards are as follows:
Volleyball Player of the Year – Jackie Howell (VMHS)
Football Player of the Year – Landry Gilpin (VMHS)
Girls Golfer of the Year – Mia Lerma (MHS)
Sub-6A Female Athlete of the Year- Jackie Howell (VMHS)
Sub-6A Male Athlete of the Year- Landry Gilpin (VMHS)
Sub-6A Girls Team of the Year- Mission Veterans Volleyball
Sub-6A Boys Team of the Year- Mission Veterans Football
The banquet was hosted by RGVSports.com and AIM Media Texas in conjunction with the RGV Sports Hall of Fame. A total of 33 awards were presented to athletes, coaches and teams across all 12 UIL sports. Dallas Cowboys great Randy White, a Super Bowl MVP and NFL Hall of Famer, was the guest speaker.
