Mission, Texas- The Veterans Memorial High School Patriot Band is advancing to the UIL 5A Area G Marching Contest for the first time in four years. The contest will be held on Saturday, October 26, at Bobby Lackey Stadium in Weslaco, Texas. The Patriot Band is expected to perform at 12:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at gate.
The band earned advancement to the Area round of competition after earning a Division 1 rating from judges at the recent Pigskin Jubilee held at Tom Landry Hall of Fame Stadium. The band earned top marks from each of the judges.
The Mission High School Eagle Band also earned a Division 1 rating from the judges at Pigskin. However, only 5A schools qualify for advancement this year. It alternates each year between the larger districts and smaller districts.
