Campus teachers of the year announced

Mission, Texas- Each Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) campus has made their selections for Teacher of the Year at their school. These top educators have now been entered into the Mission CISD Teacher of the Year program. It is from this program that one elementary and one secondary teacher will be selected to represent Mission CISD in the Regional Teacher of the Year contest.

The 14 elementary Campus Teachers of the Year for this year are: Jessica Villarreal, Alton Elementary School; Rebecca Munguia, Bryan Elementary School; Rosemarie Underwood, Cantu Elementary School; Melanie Ramos Perez, Castro Elementary School; Erika Martinez, Cavazos Elementary School; Bonnie Hernandez, Escobar/Rios Elementary School; Alicia Bazan, Leal Elementary School; Alva Salinas, Midkiff Elementary School; Ana Salinas, Mims Elementary School; Mario Flores, Marcell Elementary School; Maria Davalos, O’Grady Elementary School; Marisol De La Rosa, Pearson Elementary School; Hortencia Morales, Salinas Elementary School; Fabiola Salinas, Waitz Elementary School.

The nine secondary Campus Teachers of the Year are: Ana C. Perez, Alton Memorial Jr. High School; Martin Villegas, K. White Jr. High School; Anne Rodriguez, Mission Jr. High School; Vanessa Ramos, R. Cantu Jr. High School; Anthony M. Charles, Mission Collegiate High School; Joselito Guanzon, Mission High School; Carolina Ramos, Veterans Memorial High School; Robert Nino, Roosevelt Alternative School; Liz Acosta, Options Academy.

Each of these teachers has been tasked with filling out a questionnaire used in the Texas Teacher of the Year program. The questionnaire is then reviewed by a panel of judges selected from the Mission CISD community. These judges make the final selection of the two teachers to represent Mission CISD in the regional competition. The judges’ decision will be announced at a special Teacher of the Year Luncheon to be held Friday, May 8 at Balli’s Social and Event Center in Mission. Each campus Teacher of the year will also be honored by the district administration and Board of Trustees during this special luncheon.
