Manufacturing and welding students advance to state competitions

Mission, Texas- Manufacturing and welding students from Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) recently competed in the SkillsUSA District events held at TSTC Harlingen. 

Diego Gonzalez placed first in machining operations. This consists of

 working on vertical milling machines, an engine lathe, reading blueprints, and doing machining mathematics. 

Moises Rangel placed third in welding and is also advancing to state. This area of competition included shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, oxyfuel cutting, fitting and grinding, as well as the reading of blueprints.
