Mission CISD Board of Trustees election postponed

Mission, Texas- The Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) Board of Trustees election has been postponed. At their meeting of April 8, 2020, the trustees unanimously approved moving the date for this year’s election from May 2, 2020 to the uniform election date of Tuesday, November 3, 2020. 

The following is the text of the order postponing the election that was approved by the trustees:

 

 WHEREAS, on March 18, 2020 Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a proclamation suspending certain laws to the extent necessary to allow political subdivisions that would otherwise hold elections on May 2, 2020 to move those elections to the next uniform election date, which occurs on November 3, 2020; and 

WHEREAS, this Order is made pursuant to the authority granted in the Governor’s proclamation; now, therefore, be it 

ORDERED

1.That the election for Mission CISD Board of Trustees currently scheduled to occur onMay 2, 2020 is hereby moved to November 3, 2020.

 

2.That the candidate filings for the May election will remain valid for the Novemberelection and that the filing period will not be re-opened for the November election date.

 

3.That all Applications for Ballot by Mail (ABBMs) for voters who are voting by mail due to being over the age of 65 or due to disability will still be valid for the Novemberelection, and that ABBMs for voters who submitted ABBMs based on expectedabsence from the county would not be valid for the November election.

 

4.That the major relevant dates for the November election are as follows:a.Voter Registration Deadline: October 5, 2020

b.Deadline to submit an ABBM: October 23, 2020

c.Dates for Early Voting: October 19, 2020 – October 30, 2020
