Dear Parent/Guardian,
Thank you for your support, understanding, and all that you have been doing to help our community through these past several weeks. We know there have been challenges in transitioning to this new form of education and home living routines.
Governor Greg Abbott announced earlier today that all Texas schools will remain closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. While our buildings will remain closed for the safety of students, staff, and our community; the instruction of students is required to continue as best we can through the remainder of this school year. We will continue to tweak our efforts to support our Mission CISD students and families through this time.
The commissioner of education will be providing more guidance for school districts in the coming days and as those impact our operations, we will let you know.
It is still too early to make final decisions as to how to address commencement/graduations for our seniors. Preliminary discussions have been ongoing regarding various options that can be considered as our end of year picture becomes clearer. We will do all in our power to bring our senior’s academic careers with us to a proper close, while adhering to standards for health and safety from our Hidalgo County and City of Mission officials.
Once we have more information from our county and or city officials that it is safe to make arrangements for students to retrieve any personal items still on campus, those will be shared with parents and students. Arrangements will also be announced soon regarding campus staff access to close classrooms, etc.
We know there are still a lot of unanswered questions. We will provide information as it becomes available to us from our state, county, and local leaders. The governor stressed repeatedly that the opening of Texas will be slow, based on facts, and with the health of Texans as the key in all decisions they are making.
We ask for your continued patience and support as we move forward through the remainder of this school year. Our buildings may be closed for the remainder of the year, but instructional continuity is still required from home. Classroom teachers and staff will continue to reach out to our students and parents regarding instructional assignments. The Mission CISD Homework Hotline for assistance with Instructional Packets continues to be available at 323-5300 from 10am.-5pm.
Our focus will continue to be on providing instruction and services to the best of our ability, and with the health and well-being of students and staff as the key guiding principle.

Gracias por su apoyo, comprensión y todo lo que ha estado haciendo para ayudar a nuestra comunidad a través de estas últimas semanas. Sabemos que ha habido desafíos en la transición a esta nueva forma de educación y rutinas de vida en el hogar.
El gobernador Greg Abbott anunció hoy que todas las escuelas de Texas permanecerán cerradas durante el resto del año escolar 2019-2020. Mientras que nuestros edificios permanecerán cerrados por la seguridad de los estudiantes, el personal y nuestra comunidad; la instrucción de los estudiantes debe continuar lo mejor que podamos durante el resto de este año escolar. Continuaremos ajustando nuestros esfuerzos para apoyar a nuestros estudiantes y familias de Mission CISD a lo largo de este tiempo.
El comisionado de educación proporcionará más orientación para los distritos escolares en los próximos días y a medida de como impacten nuestras operaciones, se lo haremos saber.
Todavía es demasiado pronto para tomar decisiones finales sobre planes para graduación de nuestros estudiantes. Ha habido discusiones preliminares sobre varias opciones que pueden considerarse a medida de que tengamos mas informacion. Haremos todo lo que esté a nuestro alcance para llevar el año academico de nuestros candidatos de graduación a un cierre adecuado, mientras nos adherimos a los estádares de salud y seguridad del condado de Hidalgo y la ciudad de Mission.
Una vez que tengamos más información de nuestro condado y funcionarios de la ciudad que esta seguro para hacer arreglos para que los estudiantes recuperen cualquier artículo personal que aún esté en la escuela, esos serán compartidos con los padres y estudiantes. Los arreglos también se anunciarán poco después con respecto al acceso del personal de las esucelas y los salones de clase, etc.
Sabemos que todavía hay muchas preguntas sin respuesta. Proporcionaremos información a medida que esté disponible para nosotros de nuestros líderes estatales, del condado y locales. El gobernador subrayó repetidamente que el abrir el estado de Texas será lenta, basada en hechos, y con la salud de los Tejanos como clave en todas las decisiones que están tomando.
