MHS students advance to FBLA National Conference

Mission High School (MHS) had a total of 16 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members advanced to the State Leadership Conference by virtue of placing at the FBLA Area IV Leadership Conference.  Due to the COVID-19 situation, FBLA Area 4 and FBLA State competitions were both held at Mission High School.  Originally, the FBLA State Conference was supposed to be held in Galveston, TX on March 25-27, 2020.

 

The MHS FBLA members placing at Area and advanced to State:  Jesus D. Garza – Computer Problem Solving, Mikayla Treviño – Personal Finance, Luis Muñoz, Leslie C. Rivera, and Santiago Diaz – Accounting I, Roberto Ramirez III – Business Communication, Ashley Romo – Database Design and Applications, Aaron Relko and Zhi Huang – Business Calculations, Jensen Rosales – Business Law, Jizzel Maldonado – Advertising, Neftaly Rivera – Healthcare Administration, Jorge Salinas – Word Processing, Ashmin Torres – Computer Applications, Timothy Chapman – Journalism, and Gabriel Rodriguez – Spreadsheet Applications.

 

Information was received that MHS FBLA was recognized for contributing to the March of Dimes and to the FBLA Endowment Fund of $1 per member every year since its inception in the 1990’s.  Luis Muñoz was recognized as a Texas FBLA Who’s Who Member.  Mr. O’cana, MHS Adviser, was recognized for his 40 years of service to the FBLA organization.

 

Advancing as National Qualifiers are:  2nd place – Spreadsheet Applications – Gabriel Rodriguez, 3rd place – Database Design & Applications – Ashley Romo, 4th place – Computer Applications – Ashmin Torres, 5th place (Alternate) – Word Processing – Jorge Salinas.  The FBLA National Leadership Conference, which was to be held in Salt Lake City, UT in June 2020, will turn into a virtual competition.
