High school graduates walk the stage already having earned an Associates Degree

Mission, Texas- When the Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) Classes of 2020 walked across their commencement stage, many had already earned a college Associate’s Degree and saved thousand of dollars on college credit through Dual Enrollment courses as a part of the district’s partnership with South Texas College. The number of seniors earning their Associate’s Degree increased over 2019 to a total of 79.

The following students at Mission High School earned Associate’s Degrees: Ryan Charles Aguilar, Interdisciplinary Studies; Librado Anzaldua Jr., Applied Science in Welding; Noevely Marcela Garza, Criminal Justice; Jesus Alberto Molina Jr., Criminal Justice; Matthew Raziel Perez, Applied Science in Welding; Diego Tamez-Garza, Applied Science in Welding; Ryan Jacob Vick, Criminal Justice. 

The following students at Veterans Memorial High School earned Associate’s Degrees: Abigail Grace Amaya, Business Administration; Leslie Yazatte Borrego, Biology; Vanessa Ali Del Angel, Biology; Juan Luis Garcia III, Biology; Jackeline Nuñez Salgado, Biology; Nicole Kate Regalado, Criminal Justice; Yadel Michelle Sanchez, Biology; Gina Andrea Treviño, Business Administration. 

The number of Mission CISD students taking advantage of the opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree while attending one of the district’s three high schools has been increasing over the last four years. In 2017, the number of seniors graduating with Associate’s Degrees was 58, compared to the 79 in the Class of 2020.
