VMHS students pass the National Exam

Veterans Memorial High School had 14 students pass their Health Phlebotomy National Exam. There are also 6 more students that are waiting to take the test later this month.

This is a great accomplishment not only for students but also for the first year Health Phlebotomy teacher, Ms. Eva Zamarripa.

I'm so happy and excited due to it being my first year teaching and 75% of my students who tested, passed their National Exam,” stated Ms. Zamarripa. “I had been the campus Nurse for Cavazos Elementary since 2012 and last year when the district went under DOI, I decided to apply for the teaching position after I passed my Health Science Exam with TEA.“

Congratulations to the following students for passing their exam: Veronica Cantu, Oscar Correa, Leila De Leon, Manuel Elizarraras, Kelly Garcia, Naidelin Ibanez, Alexandria Morales, Alexcis Pina, Karen Ramirez, Tania Ramirez, Abigail Rodriguez, Miranda Ruiz, Karina Vallejo, and Alexa Villarreal.

Students interested in taking Practicum in Health Phlebotomy have to be seniors in order to meet the age requirement for the National Exam. There are classes that underclassmen can take such as: Principles of Health Science (9th), Medical Terminology (10th) and Health Science (11th).
