Mission, Texas- The Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) Board of Trustees was provided with an update and information regarding the possible return to in-person athletics during a meeting on September 9, 2020. During presentations, board members reviewed survey results from members of the athletics department staff as well as parents of students who have enrolled in fall athletics. While the response rate to the parent survey was very low, the results showed about 60% of respondents indicating they would have their children participate in in-person athletics if they district offers them.
The authority to make a final determination regarding in-person athletics will rest with the Superintendent, Dr. Carol G. Perez. Dr. Perez said the district will continue to monitor local COVID-19 conditions. Any decisions in the coming days would be based upon conditions and ongoing stakeholder input.
