MHS Eagle Choir student advances to Area and two selected as alternates

Mission, Texas-Mission High School Choir students are adapting to participating in virtual competitions. The ability to adapt and talents has qualified one student to advance to the next level of competitions for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Choir. In addition, two Eagle Choir students have also been selected as alternates.

Nathan Cavazos, Abigail Rivera, and Kayla Alcantar had advanced to the Region and Pre-Area auditions that were held, virtually recently. Cavazos scored well enough to advance to the Area level of auditions while Rivera and Alcantar were selected as alternates. Musicians who perform well enough at the Area level earn a coveted spot as a TMEA All-State musician. This honor is often considered the highest possible for high school band and choir students.

The Area auditions are set to take place on January 2, 2021 and this competition will also be done virtually.
