Mission CISD honored for their efforts by United Way of South Texas

Mission, Texas- Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) is the recipient of the Golden Apple Award presented by United Way of South Texas. The award recognizes Mission CISD for being one of the top contributors among school districts. The non-profit organization honored the many volunteers and outstanding supporters that have gone above and beyond to participate in their annual campaign.

“It is an honor to have been recognized as one of the top school districts that helped support the United Way of South Texas,” states Superintendent Dr. Carol G. Perez. “Most importantly it allows us to help our community through contributions that are made to this organization by our employees. The many programs available through United Way provides assistance to our students, parents, and many throughout our community. ”

 

They have over 100 programs through 23 partner agencies and many community impact grant recipients. Programs such as the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance which is a free tax service for families earning $54,000 or less, Day of Caring which allows volunteers to package school supplies for incoming freshmen to rotating school districts, Back-To-School Instyle Shopping Spree which provides middle school students attire for back to school, and many other programs that not only help students and members of our community.
