Two KWJH MathCounts students to compete at State

Mission, Texas- Kenneth White Jr. High (KWJH) students have qualified for the MathCounts State meet slated for March 25, 2021. Two students, Nicholas Ochoa (7th grade) placed 1st and Enrique Alba (8th grade) placed 2nd at the Rio Grande Valley MathCounts Chapter competition. They have earned the opportunity to represent K. White Jr. High, Mission CISD, and the RGV at the State competition. 

 

For both Nicholas and Enrique, this is the second year in a row that they have qualified to compete at the state meet. The KWJH MathCounts team is coached by Mr. Adrian Chapa and his assistant is 9th grade Mission High School student, Ricardo Ochoa III.

 

The MathCounts competition series is a national middle school mathematics competition that builds problem solving skills through challenging math problems. Since returning to the MathCounts competition series in 2017, KWJH has had a student qualify for state meet every year.
