MHS librarian recognized for Border Book Bash

Mission High School librarian, Margie Longoria, is the 2021 Texas Library Association Branding Iron Award recipient for her Border Book Bash: Celebrating Teens and Tweens of the RGV. She was selected for this award in the special events/ school category.

Border Book Bash: Celebrating Teens and Tweens of the Rio Grande Valley was developed by Margie and made its first appearance at Alton Memorial Jr. High in December 2016.  Her innovative project sought to promote literacy in our communities, and it travels to different school districts and around the Rio Grande Valley.

Nominees sometimes have substantial marketing funds and staff, and others operate on a shoe-string budget, but marketing is among ‘other duties as assigned.’ Librarians are creating amazing work to promote their services, programs, and events. TLA’s Branding Iron Awards honor this inspiring and creative work with awards presented in several categories, and one overall Best of Show winner.
