KWJH student is the TMSCA State Champion in calculator applications

Mission, Texas- The Texas Math Science Coaches Association (TMSCA) State Championship meet was on April 24th, 2021 and a student from K. White Jr. High School was named State Champion. Nicholas Ochoa is a 7th grade student and had a 1st place finish in calculator applications earning the highest score for a 7th grade student across all classifications. 

 

Ochoa also finished in 5th place in number sense and 12th place in mathematics. This caps off a strong year for Nicholas who stayed busy competing in various virtual math competitions. In the fall semester he earned 1st place in calculator applications, math, and number sense in both VirtualChallenge UIL meets he participated in. He followed that up with a 1st place finish at the Rio Grande Valley MathCounts chapter competition.

 

 The K. White JH math team is coached by Mr. Adrian Chapa. There is a link on the K. White JH website for any future Hawks who are interested in joining the math team for the 2021-2022 school year.
