Mission CISD to celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 7th

The Mission Consolidated Independent School District Child Nutrition Program staff members are the true heroes of this story and we will be celebrating all of them on May 7th. This coming Friday is the official School Lunch Hero Day! These individuals prepare healthy meals for our students while adhering to strict nutritional guidelines, consider food allergies, have maneuvered through a pandemic, and continue to offer service with a smile.

“Our CNP staff members have been phenomenal and have demonstrated the true meaning of service,” states Dr. Carol G. Perez, MCISD Superintendent. “They have really gone above and beyond to provide our children their meals not only during the week but also at all our Curbside Meal Distribution sites on Saturdays. They are our School Lunch Heroes!”

The Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has dedicated this day to our CNP staff in honor of their tireless efforts in finding innovative ways to provide meals in any academic setting. School Lunch Hero Day is a nationwide celebration that recognizes these nutrition professionals and their dedication to supporting our students, some of whom may be experiencing food insecurity at this time.

“We are so proud of all the members of our team,” states Rosy Woodrum, Director of Child Nutrition Program. “They have really worked hard day in and day out to assure our children continue to have their meals. We want them to know they are truly appreciated for their service.”
