Mission, Texas- The Education Foundation of Mission CISD Prize Patrol surprised grant recipients and scholarship recipients with checks during a virtual presentation. It may have been a little different this year, but the excitement was at an all-time high as Superintendent Dr. Carol G. Perez welcomed recipients on screen. The Education Foundation President Hector Olivarez along with organization members were on hand to make the presentations.
A total of 12 scholarships in the amount of $1000 were handed out to district employees who are continuing with their education. Those employees receiving the scholarships from the Education Foundation are: Dominga A. De Los Santos, Olivia Leticia Cano, Karla De La Fuente, Jose Gutierrez, Anabel Tenorio, Juan Garcia Garcia, Lorena Lopez, Marcos Villarreal, Flor Guerrero, Sylvia Galvan, Cynthia Iris Gonzalez, and Roberto Meave.
There were also six, $1000 mini grants presented to employees who have special plans and projects to benefit students and student learning. The mini grants went to: Miguel Moreno, Marissa Martinez, Jorge A. Menchaca, Juliana Galvan, Erika M. Guerra, and Irene Gallegos.
There were also 25 scholarships for $500 that were presented to the following students:
Veterans Memorial High School- Adrian Gallardo, Matthew Villarreal, Rolando Alvarado, Briana Garza, Mia Gonzalez, Shaday’e Flores Lopez, Eduardo Rivera and Marc Gallardo. Mission High School- DeAndra Carmona, Martha Ceja, Maielah Davis, Lisa Garza, Krystal Gonzalez, Zhi Huang, Esteban Pena, Andrea Perez, Ana Vasquez, and Annika Villarreal. Mission Collegiate High School- Melissa Camancho, Gema Sepulveda Paras, Hayley Garza, Melissa Castorena, Hannah Ayala, Elizabeth Villarreal, and Ramon Pena.
The Education Foundation of Mission CISD funds the scholarships and grants for students and district employees through fundraising activities throughout the year as well as through employee contributions.
