VMHS students to offer free income tax assistance to the public

Mission, Texas- Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) engineering students are joining forces with VMHS Business Professionals of America (BPA) students to provide free income tax preparation services to the community. They will be holding a ribbon cutting for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) center in the commons area of VMHS on February 1 at 5:00 p.m.

This unique partnership of student groups will be able to provide income tax preparation services to households with an income of $58,000 or less. Services will be provided by appointment and can be made by calling 956-323-3203, or by email at [email protected]

The students have completed the required certifications and will be supervised by licensed IRS volunteers throughout the process. The VMHS VITA program will operate out of a classroom at the campus and allow the students to not only provide a community service, but gain experience in various roles: customer service, receptionist, tax specialist, manager. 

The VMHS VITA services will be available, by appointment, through March 31, 2022.
