AMJH robotics team makes district history while also qualifying for world competition

Mission, Texas- The Alton Memorial Jr. High School (AMJH) Lady Robo-Rangers FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team #13523 has made district history, while also qualifying for the 2022 FIRST World Championships.

In the process of qualifying for the world competition, the Lady Robo-Rangers earned the coveted Inspire Award at the Texas South Regional Championship. They are the first district team to earn the award. An added feather in their cap is the fact that the Lady Robo-Rangers are the first middle school team to win the Inspire Award in the Rio Grande Valley at the Regional Championships, while competing against high school teams. The Inspire Award is FTC’s most prestigious award given to the team that best embodies the challenge of FIRST, and is an inspiration to others acting with gracious professionalism and is a strong ambassador for all the FIRST programs.

The members of the Lady Robo-Rangers team are: Jazlyn Granados, captain; Kayla Cirlos, Jenna Cortez, Erika Faz, Alison Garcia, Alexa Rodriguez, Briana Santoy, Briseyda Pena. This team competes at the high school level.

The 2022 FIRST World Championships will be held in Houston, Texas, April 20-23.

The AMJH Robo-Rangers teams have been chasing the dream of winning the Inspire Award for five years, coming close several times at the League level.
