Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) Jazz Band competed at the 54th annual Texas A&M University Kingsville Jazz Festival on Saturday, March 26th. The VMHS Jazz Band came home with an “Excellent” rating for their performance and represented Mission CISD with pride.
VMHS senior saxophone player, Rebecca Alejos, was also selected as an Outstanding Soloist from among her competitors at the festival. A truly remarkable feat. The VMHS Jazz Band program is off to a great start for the 2022 festival season.
This prestigious festival is one of the most competitive in the state and where some of the top jazz bands in Texas have performed. This was the first competition for the VMHS Jazz musicians in three years
and they did extremely well. The judges for the competition are renowned jazz musicians and educators from across the country.
The VMHS Jazz Band program would like to thank the band parents, campus staff and MCISD administration for their tremendous support! A huge thank you to the students for all you do! The Jazz program is under the direction of Mr. Gabriel Molina.
