District Staff Member of the Year Announced

Mission, Texas- The last day of school for one Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) employee was one she may remember for a while. Guadalupe Valdez, an instructional aide at Capt. J. Castro Elementary School got a surprise visit by superintendent Dr. Carol G. Perez and several district administrators to let her know that she has been selected as the 2022 Mission CISD District Staff Member of the Year.

Each Mission CISD campus/building selected a paraprofessional/hourly employee to honor as its Staff Member of the Year. Those individuals are recognized for their positive influen ce on their worksites, colleagues, people they serve, and for initiative in getting things completed. Each campus/building Staff Member of the Year was nominated for the District award. A panel of campus and district administrators reviews and scores each nomination to come up with a district honoree.

Valdez is relatively new to her position, having started just last school year. She has stepped up more than once to take the lead in the classroom when teachers have had to take extended leave. Valdez is working towards becoming a teacher.

Valdez was presented with a special award, a yard sign, and a $500 check from the Education Foundation of Mission CISD.
