Patriot Football players hustle on and off the field

Mission, Texas- The Veterans Memorial High School Football program promotes academics before athletics, and they have been highly focused on making sure their athletes do well academically. They have created their own honor roll recognition of their football players through social media and campus announcements.

Patriot Football players have an impressive close to their first six weeks. A total of 12 players made the A Honor Roll and 42 players made the A & B Honor Roll.  They have demonstrated that they are not only dedicated to playing on the field, but they are also dedicated to their studies as well.

“It means a lot to me to make the honor roll and I would like to thank my teachers for helping me out,” states Cody Von Wald, Patriots Senior Linebacker. “It’s really awesome to excel on and off the field and I would like to encourage every athlete to focus on their studies as much as they do their sport.”

These players are hustling not only on the field but also off the field. They are fully committed to their studies as they are to Patriot Football.

“As a coach I am extremely proud of our players that have made the honor roll for the 1st six weeks. 12 All A honor roll players and 42 A-B honor roll players fires me up!!! To be able to excel in the classroom, even with the demanding schedule these boys have for football, is a true testament to their character, commitment, and work ethic, states David Gilpin, Patriot Football Coach.

This is an extremely great example that these players are setting for any up-and-coming athlete. For now, they will continue to work hard and focus on the 2nd six weeks as well as the rest of their games.
