Mission CISD announces District Spelling Bee Champion
Mission, Texas - More than 30 of the best spellers from Mission CISD took part in the Annual District Spelling Bee held recently. Kenneth White Jr. High student, Victor Mireles (7th Grade), won and was named District Spelling Bee Champion. Victor Mireles will represent Mission CISD at the 35th Annual Rio Grande Valley Regional Spelling Bee, which will be held Saturday, March 4th at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance. The winner of the Regional Spelling Bee will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held in the Washington, D.C. area.
District Spelling Bee winners are as follows:
1st Place: Victor Mireles, 7th Grade, K. White JH
2nd Place: Ashley Dayana Rodriguez, 5th Grade, Mims Elementary
3rd Place: Kiyanna Martinez, 8th Grade, Rafael Cantu JH
4th Place: Eurora Davis, 5th Grade, Midkiff Elementary
5th Place: Nailea Flores - 5th Grade, Midkiff Elementary
A total of 36 students throughout the district were named respective Campus Champions and they are: Grace Galvan (Mission Jr. High), Makeyla Luna (Waitz Elementary), Camila Rodriguez (Cavazos Elementary School), Lina Villarreal (K. White JH), Ellie Olguin (O'Grady Elementary), Julio Lira (Escobar/Rios Elementary), Mia Tovar (Salinas Elementary), Danielle Nunez (Leal Elementary), Jaden Navarro (Pearson Elementary), Allison Peña (Alton Memorial JH), Isla Medina (Cantu Elementary), Isla Medina (Cantu Elementary), Julie Gonzalez (Rafael Cantu Jr. High), Jaylah Salinas (Leal Elementary), Emma Garcia (Bryan Elementary), Celeste Sahara Tovar (Mims Elementary), Mia Hernandez (Castro Elementary), James D.
