Mission CISD honored by United Way of South Texas for their efforts

Mission, Texas- Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) is the recipient of the Golden Apple Award presented by United Way of South Texas. The award recognizes Mission CISD for being one of the top contributors among school districts. The non-profit organization honored the many volunteers and outstanding supporters that have gone above and beyond to participate in their annual campaign.

“It is such an honor to be recognized by United Way of South Texas but most importantly it allows us to help our community through our contributions,” states Superintendent Dr. Carol G. Perez. “There are many programs through United Way that not only help our students but our community as a whole.”

United Way has a total of 100 programs through 23 partner agencies and many community impact grant recipients. Programs such as the Day of Caring which allows volunteers to package school supplies for incoming freshmen to rotating school districts, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance a free tax service, Back-To-School Instyle Shopping Spree for provides middle school students attire for back to school, and many other programs that help students and members of our community.
