VMHS Color Guard earns first place and makes history

Mission, Texas- The Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) Patriot Colorguard wins first place in the Texas Educational Colorguard Association (TECA) State Competition in Hidalgo, Texas.  The VMHS Patriot Colorguard were also awarded these captions: "Fan Favorite," "Outstanding Equipment," and "Outstanding General Effect." They represented VMHS with pride and grace and have made school history! This is the first time that the VMHS Colorguard wins a first place at TECA. The VMHS Band is incredibly proud of the team for representing the VMHS campus and Mission CISD at such a high level. 


They competed against groups from all over South Texas at this competition. Team members are from left to right (First row)- Emily Jimenez (guard instructor), Michael Gomez, Hailey Schwarz, Isabel Katelyn Cabrera, Mia Ayala, Sophia Guerrero, and Trina Barrera. (Second row)- Karly Alvarez, and Autumn Gonzalez.
