VMHS Patriot Stars bring back awards from first national competition

Mission, Texas- The Veterans Memorial High School Patriot Stars dance team spent this past weekend attending the HTE Dance and Spirit Group Dance Nationals in San Antonio. This is the first national competition for the Patriot Stars in program history. 

Jackie Salazar was named national solo champion in the 9th-10th grade division. The Stars earned national champion honors in small jazz ensemble and medium contemporary ensemble. 

Officer awards included: national champions jazz; national champions contemporary; national champions prop; judges award for choreography; presentation award; sweepstakes award; medium division national champions.

Team awards included: national champions contemporary; national champion hip hop; 1st runner up pom; 1st runner up novelty; best in class-team hip hop; judges award for technique; judges award for choreography; presentation award; entertainment award; showmanship award; super sweepstakes award.
