VMHS Cosmetology students bring home some bling and qualify for Nationals

Veterans Memorial High School had three Cosmetology students compete in the SkillsUSA State & Leadership Conference in Corpus Christi, Texas, March 30-April 1. Breanna Ramirez won the gold medal SkillsUSA Texas Outstanding Memorial Scholarship and silver in the SkillsUSA Outstanding Member. 

 

The SkillsUSA Texas Outstanding Member Scholarship is valued at $1,000 from the Career and Technical Associates of Texas.  To be eligible for this competition the recipient must be a SkillsUSA District, State and National officer, who has promoted, publicized, and stimulated growth of SkillsUSA and Trade and Industrial Education. Leadership Development category.

 

Savanna Coronado, Kaitlyn Richardson, and Breanna Ramirez won the gold medal in the Outstanding Chapter Competition qualifying them to advance to the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia June 19-23.

 

Evaluating local chapter activities benefits the student members, the school, and the community. The Outstanding Chapter is one example of the enthusiasm and careful planning necessary to keep chapters active and to involve as many members in as many activities as possible.
