Mission CISD prepares for graduation ceremonies

Mission High School 

The Mission High School class of 2024 will receive their diplomas on May 25, at the Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. The commencement ceremony will officially begin at 9:00 a.m. Seniors will enter with the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance.  

Joselin Chavez will lead the presentation of colors. Aleah Tovar will lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem. Alexa Tovar will provide the official welcome. Dariela Gomez and Christian Guzman Jr. Will introduce special guests in attendance. 

There will be four addresses during the program. The first will be Mission High School Principal Jose E. Mejia II, followed by Mission CISD Superintendent of schools Dr. Carol G. Perez. Bryana Viridian Guerra will give the salutatory address, followed by the valedictory address by Daniella Deyanira Escojido 

Dr. Perez will provide the official certification of graduates, after which, the Mission CISD Board of Trustees will award the diplomas to the members of the class of 2024. 

Vanessa Villegas will lead the Mission High School “Alma Mater”, and Aliya Tovar will lead the tassel ceremony. 

Leslie Mylie Garza will lead the eagle pinning ceremony. The graduates will then depart to “War March of the Priest.” 

Veterans Memorial High School 

The Veterans Memorial High School class of 2024 will receive their diplomas on May 25, at the Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. The commencement ceremony will officially begin at 2:00 p.m. Seniors will enter with the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance.”  

The Veterans Memorial High School JROTC will lead the presentation of colors. Logan Eulalio Martinez will lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Veterans Memorial High School Choir will sing the National Anthem. Kailey Ann Kaufman will provide the official welcome.  

There will be four addresses during the program. The first will be Veterans Memorial High School Principal Fidel Garza Jr., followed by Mission CISD Superintendent of schools Dr. Carol G. Perez. Elliah Jade Rodriguez will give the salutatory address, followed by the valedictory address by Nikolas Alexander Salinas.  

Dr. Perez will provide the official certification of graduates, after which, the Mission CISD Board of Trustees will award the diplomas to the members of the class of 2024. 

The senior song selection, “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane and arranged by Cherish Danae will be performed by the senior choir: Andrea A. Garza, Victoria E. Garza, Desiree H. Leal, Helzander J. Narvaez, Destiny L. Navarro, Andrea Ramirez, Sasha R. Saldana, Ernesto D. Santana Jr., Emilee A. Silva, Florence F. Tijerina, and Sara M. Vasquez. The senior choir is under the direction of Vanessa Rodriguez.  

Cole Andrew Butel will lead the tassel ceremony. The graduates will depart to “War March of the Priest.” 

Mission Collegiate High School 

The Mission Collegiate High School class of 2024 will receive their diplomas on May 25, at the Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. The commencement ceremony beings at 6:00 p.m. Seniors will enter with the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance”, and the presentation of colors will follow. 

Cassandra C. Cordova will lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Daniel Hernandez will present the Vision Statement. Angela L. Campos will present the Knight Legacy, followed by the official welcome by Samantha O. Yanez. Elysia Z. Flores will introduce special guests in attendance.  

There will be four addresses during the program. The first will be by Mission Collegiate High School Principal, Ana Lisa Flores, followed by Mission CISD Superintendent of schools, Dr. Carol G. Perez. The salutatory address will be given by Sebastian E. Ruizsoriano, followed by the valedictory address by Ricardo Ochoa III.  

Dr. Perez will provide the official certification of graduates, after which, the Mission CISD Board of Trustees will award the diplomas to the graduates of the class of 2024.  

Ruizsoriano will lead the tassel ceremony, followed by a special presentation by Kaleigh R. Gonzalez. 

Melenie Gaytan will present the "Alma Mater, after which the graduates will depart to “War March of the Priest.”
