MISSION, TEXAS (May 21, 2024) - Mission High School announces its Top 3 Students for the Class of 2024. This year Daniella Deyanira Escojido has been named valedictorian, Bryana Viridian Guerra is the salutatorian, and Alexa Tovar is the third-ranking student. Congratulations to these students and the Class of 2024 for all their educational accomplishments.
Daniella Deyanira Escojido
Mission High School has named Daniella Deyanira Escojido as their Class of 2024 valedictorian. She is the daughter of Lydia Espinoza. She plans to attend Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas where she will be pursuing a degree in construction science. She hopes to one day become a construction manager.
Escojido plans to enjoy these last few months together with her family and friends before she leaves for college. Ultimately, her goal is to simply enjoy life to the fullest, take risks, and go on memorable adventures.
What Escojido is looking forward to most when she attends college is becoming a true aggie by learning the traditions of the school and creating lifelong friendships with fellow classmates.
“I am truly excited for all the opportunities and challenges that college will have to offer me,” said Escojido. “I know the amazing support system I have will always cheer me on through the thick and thin of college.”
While in high school Escojido stayed busy with her studies as well as extracurricular activities such as; Distributive Education Clubs of America, Business Professionals of America, varsity choir, volleyball, and basketball. She also had a leadership role several activities such as; Gear-Up Ambassador, senior class vice president, RGV Lead Ambassador, choir president, UIL vice president, and national honor society secretary.
Escojido leaves a few words of encouragement for next year’s seniors, “Simply make the best out of their last year of high school because senior year will truly be the most memorable and simply unforgettable time of your life.”
Bryana Viridian Guerra
This year’s Mission High School salutatorian, Bryana Viridian Guerra, is the daughter of Claudia Guerra and Luis Jose Guerra. She will attend The University of Houston and pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Education. She is interested in becoming a theater director at a fine arts conservatory and is looking forward to auditioning for shows while in college.
As soon as this school year is over, Guerra will be frequently traveling to Houston, Texas to visit the university. She also plans on joining the Spotlight Theatre program, located in Pharr, Texas this summer.
“They put on amazing musical productions," said Guerra. “Last year I did a production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame with them, and it was a wonderful experience that I’ll never forget.”
Guerra is looking forward to meeting new people, making connections, and overall, just living in a new city.
She has kept a busy schedule throughout high school with her educational goals and participating in extra-curricular activities such as; One Act Play, varsity choir, Distributive Educational Clubs of America, and National Honor Society. She was also part of a few musicals, such as Grease and Beauty and the Beast.
She leaves the Mission High School seniors with a few words of advice, “make the most of the time you have left in high school,” said Guerra. “These really are the most memorable moments of your lives, and you should never take time for granted.”
Alexa Tovar
The 2024 Mission High School’s third-ranking student is Alexa Tovar, and she is the daughter of Alejandro Tovar and Alma Ramos. She will be headed out to Austin, Texas to attend The University of Texas at Austin to pursue a degree in entrepreneurship business management degree on a pre-law track. After her undergrad years, she will be attending law school to become a corporate lawyer.
Tovar plans on traveling outside the state to visit coastal cities while preparing for the next chapter of her life. While attending college, Tovar is looking forward to meeting new people and being surrounded by those who have similar goals.
“I am looking forward to taking a step closer to the goals that I have set for myself,” said Tovar.
She has kept a busy schedule throughout high school with her educational goals and participating in extra-curricular activities such as; Business Professionals of America, National Honor Society, class president, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America, UIL science, GearUp, and pharmacy club.
She leaves the Class of 2024 with a few words, “Dear future seniors, live in the moment but never lose sight of your future,” said Tovar. “Push yourself and stay true to your passions and dreams. Go with confidence to your last final year before you’re off to your bright future.”
