Mission CISD Promotes Student Safety with Special Visit During National School Bus Safety Week

MISSION, TEXAS (October 28, 2024) - Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) celebrated National School Bus Safety Week October 21 - 25, honoring the dedicated individuals who ensure students’ safe journeys to and from school each day.

In recognition of this important initiative, Dr. Cris Valdez, Superintendent of Schools, along with Araceli Escalona, Principal of Castro Elementary, joined students on an afterschool bus ride to promote safety awareness and celebrate the contributions of Mission CISD’s bus drivers.

During their visit, Dr. Valdez and Principal Escalona engaged with students and their bus driver, sharing laughter, stories, and valuable tips on staying safe while riding the bus. Their time on board underscored Mission CISD’s commitment to student safety and highlighted essential guidelines for bus riders and drivers alike.

“School bus drivers are true champions for student safety, and their work deserves recognition,” said Dr. Valdez. “We encourage everyone in the community to slow down and stay alert around school buses. These small actions make a big difference in keeping our students safe.”

In addition to the bus ride, Mission CISD encourages community members to stay informed on best practices for school bus safety. For more information, visit the Texas Department of Transportation’s School Bus Safety page at https://www.txdot.gov/.../driving.../school-bus-safety.html
