MISSION, TEXAS (October 25, 2025) — Mission CISD students participated in the Diamondback Showdown this past weekend, earning several awards and showcasing their skills and dedication within the FFA program.
Manuel Chapa, a member of Mission High School's FFA, placed first in class and was named Breed Champion with his ABC Steer in the Steer category. He also secured second place in the AOB Registered category with his Heifer.
Junior FFA members from Mission CISD also performed well. Melany Chapa of Alton Memorial Junior High placed fifth in the Commercial AOB Heifer category, and Kianna Villarreal from K. White Junior High achieved fourth place in the AOB Steer category.
“These accomplishments highlight the hard work, discipline, and commitment of our students to the FFA program and agricultural excellence,” said Superintendent Dr. Cris Valdez. “Their achievements demonstrate Mission CISD’s commitment to supporting students in diverse areas, including agriculture and livestock showing.”
The district also acknowledges the contributions of mentors and the entire Mission CISD community in fostering a supportive environment for student success.
