Lighting the Way to the Future: Mission CISD Students Explore Renewable Energy

MISSION, TEXAS (December 6, 2024) Mission CISD’s 4th-grade students from Escobar/Rios Elementary School took a hands-on journey into the world of renewable energy at Home Depot in Sharyland. As part of Mission CISD’s Project-Based Learning (PBL) initiatives, the students explored the construction of solar-powered homes and learned about the applications of solar energy.

This educational experience allowed students to observe how solar energy is harnessed and utilized in real-world settings. The visit aimed to introduce students to concepts of innovation and sustainability through practical learning.

Mission CISD Board President Iris Iglesias attended the event to show her support for the district’s efforts in providing innovative educational opportunities.

The district thanks Home Depot for hosting this educational activity and providing students with an opportunity to witness solar energy in action. Their partnership highlights the role of community collaboration in supporting educational experiences.

Mission CISD integrates real-world applications into the curriculum through PBL initiatives to help students develop critical thinking skills and practical knowledge.
