Mission CISD Welcomes Jaime Lopez as Assistant Superintendent for Budget and Finance

MISSION, TEXAS (January 6, 2025) – Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) is proud to announce the appointment of Jaime Lopez as the new Assistant Superintendent for Budget and Finance. With an extensive background in finance and public education, Lopez brings a wealth of experience to this important role.

Lopez began his career in the private sector, managing one of the largest line items on the balance sheet—inventory. Later, he transitioned to finance roles, working within the Financial Planning and Analysis umbrella, supporting a manufacturing plant in Mexico and a distribution center in Texas for Motorola.

Following this, Lopez served for 14 years at the La Joya School District, where he progressed through several leadership positions, including Accounts Payable Supervisor, Executive Director for Administration, and ultimately Assistant Superintendent for Budget and Finance. In this last role, Lopez gained valuable experience with the State Funding Formula and the intricacies of creating school district budgets.

Lopez holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management from Texas A&M University, as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The University of Texas-Pan American. During his MBA studies, Lopez also completed the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam in Texas.

"I am truly humbled by the opportunity to serve the students and staff of Mission CISD," said Lopez. "As a product of public schools in the Rio Grande Valley, I understand the impact that great teachers and administrators can have on student success. I look forward to being part of the hardworking team here at Mission CISD and contributing to the continued success of our students."

Dr. Cris Valdez, Superintendent of Schools for Mission CISD, shared her enthusiasm for Lopez’s appointment, stating, "We are excited to welcome Mr. Jaime Lopez to Mission CISD. His broad experience in both finance and public education, combined with a commitment to supporting student success, will be invaluable as we continue to ensure that our district's financial operations align with our goal of providing a high-quality education to every student."

Mission CISD is confident that Lopez will bring fresh perspectives and a collaborative approach to his new role, helping drive efficiencies that will support the district's mission of educational excellence.
