What inspired you to join the school board?
“I was inspired to run for School Board Trustee because I’ve always believed in the power of education to change lives. Growing up, I saw how important it was to have strong advocates for students and educators alike. I want to be a voice for our children, ensuring they have every opportunity to succeed and reach their potential. For me, this role is about giving back to the community that shaped me, honoring the values instilled in me by my family, and working to build a brighter future for every child in our schools.”
If you could share one piece of advice with students or parents in our district, what would it be?
“My advice to students and parents would be to never underestimate the power of persistence and community. Life and learning is not always easy, and there will be challenges along the way. But it’s through those moments of difficulty that growth happens. I encourage students to stay curious, ask questions, stay focused, and seek support when needed. For parents, I’d remind you that your involvement and encouragement make a lasting impact—your belief in your child’s potential is often the spark that fuels their success.”
What’s a hidden talent or hobby that people might not know you have?
“Well, I’ve got a pretty unique combination of hidden talents. I’m an expert at grilling up the best barbecue ribs you’ve ever tasted—sometimes, I think I should’ve opened a food truck! When I’m not perfecting my ribs, you can find me diving into history and Military books, movies or documentaries. And when I need a break from all that, I love to get on the water and fish.”
What’s one experience that has significantly influenced your perspective on education?
“One experience that significantly influenced my perspective on education was watching my two boys grow and thrive in school. As a parent, seeing them navigate their own educational journeys, face challenges, and experience the joy of discovery reinforced just how crucial it is to create a supportive and nurturing learning environment. Personally, my own education taught me the importance of perseverance and curiosity, but it’s through my boys that I’ve come to truly appreciate how each child has unique strengths and needs. It reminded me that education isn’t just about imparting knowledge; it’s about empowering students to believe in themselves, to grow at their own pace, and to understand that learning is a lifelong journey. It’s been a powerful lesson for me, as a parent and an advocate for education, that we must always strive to create an environment where every child feels encouraged, challenged, and, most importantly, valued.”
What’s a proud moment or achievement you’ve witnessed in our district that continues to motivate you?
“One of the proudest moments I’ve witnessed in our district was the successful launch of the classical guitar program, which I had the privilege of bringing to the district. Seeing the excitement and growth of the program and now having a waiting list of students eager to join, fills me with immense pride. It’s a testament to the incredible teachers, staff, and students who embrace new opportunities and strive for excellence. But beyond this, the proudest moments for me have been watching my own children, along with so many others, thrive in an environment that values creativity, hard work, and perseverance. It’s inspiring to see our students find their passion and purpose, and it motivates me every day to continue advocating for programs that help them succeed. These moments of achievement remind me why I serve on the school board—because I believe deeply in the potential of every student, and I am committed to ensuring they have every opportunity to reach it.”
