MISSION, TEXAS (August 20, 2024) - The Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) has announced its participation in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) for the 2024-2025 school year.
This initiative, part of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, will enable qualifying schools to offer breakfast and lunch to all students at no charge. As a result, there will be no need for meal applications for free, reduced-price, or paid student meals.
The CEP is designed to alleviate the administrative and financial burdens on families and school staff by ensuring that all students have access to nutritious meals. This program is a non-pricing meal service option specifically for schools and districts in low-income areas, allowing them to provide breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without the need for collecting household applications.
Mission CISD’s Child Nutrition Programs, including the School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, and CACFP-At-Risk Supper Program, are essential in addressing food insecurity within the community.
"By providing nutritious meals throughout the day, we help our students focus on their education without the worry of where their next meal will come from," said Marcos Rodriguez, Director of Child Nutrition Programs. "Our dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure every student has access to the meals they need to succeed."
These programs are designed to ensure that Mission CISD students are well-nourished and prepared for academic success every day.
