MISSION, TEXAS (February 12, 2025) - Mission CISD recognizes Annie Armendariz for being elected as the Area 1 President for the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE), a role that provides opportunities for leadership and growth in the field of education.
Annie’s journey began with her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. "I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was little," she said. "Joining TAFE just made sense. It’s always been my dream to help others and make a difference, and TAFE gave me the chance to start doing that early."
Annie’s leadership path wasn’t without obstacles. One of her most significant challenges was managing anxiety during her interview for Area 1 President. "Knowing I was competing with others for the role made it even harder," she shared. "But I just reminded myself to stay calm and focus on being myself." Her determination and resilience paid off, earning her the role and strengthening her confidence.
Guidance from an Inspiring Mentor
Central to Annie’s success is the guidance and encouragement of her TAFE sponsor, Ms. Gomez. "Mrs. Gomez has been there for me every step of the way," Annie said. "She’s always by my side, motivating me and giving me the information I need to succeed. I don’t think I’d be where I am without her guidance and support."
As Area 1 President, Annie is focused on making the TAFE experience more engaging and exciting. Her plans include hosting socials, increasing collaboration on social media, and organizing workshops to inspire and support fellow members. "I want to influence others by showing them how great TAFE can be and encouraging them to step up as leaders," she said.
Preparing for a Bright Future
Annie’s aspirations extend beyond her leadership role in TAFE. She plans to work as a substitute teacher while pursuing her bachelor’s degree in teaching. Ultimately, her goal is to become a kindergarten teacher and inspire the next generation of students.
For those considering leadership roles or a career in education, Annie offers this simple yet powerful advice: "Just go for it! You have nothing to lose. Be yourself, be a good person, and take the opportunity to do better and grow as a leader."
