Successful elementary UIL season has Bryan Elementary School as district champs

                The Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) elementary school academic UIL season began with competitions in December and ended with the District UIL meet on February 8. The UIL team from Bryan Elementary School won this year’s District UIL Meet. The team from Mims Elementary School came in second place; followed by Cavazos Elementary School in third; O’Grady Elementary School in fourth; Marcell Elementary School in fifth place; and Escobar/Rios Elementary School in sixth place.

                District students in second grade through fifth grade were able to participate in 17 diverse UIL event areas that include: Creative Writing, Ready Writing, Calculators, Number Sense, Math, Science, Spelling, Chess, Listening Skills, Maps-Graphs-Charts, Dictionary Skills, Music Memory, Art Memory, Oral Reading, Story Telling, Spanish Storytelling, Spanish Oral Reading.

                This year marks the first year students from Newcomers Academy participated in district UIL events.

                The first event of the Mission CISD UIL season was held at Marcell Elementary School. The top place teams from this event are: Bryan Elementary School, first; Mims Elementary School, second; Cavazos Elementary School, third; Marcell Elementary School, fifth; Escobar/Rios Elementary School, sixth.

                At the Cavazos Elementary School UIL event, the top place teams are: Mims Elementary School, first; Bryan Elementary School, second; Midkiff Elementary School, third; Marcell Elementary School, fourth; O’Grady Elementary School, fifth; Leal Elementary School, sixth.

                The top results from the Alton Elementary UIL meet are: Bryan Elementary School, first; Mims Elementary School, second; Cavazos Elementary School, third; Marcell Elementary School, fourth; Escobar/Rios Elementary School, fifth; O’Grady Elementary School, sixth.
