Mission Collegiate High School set to begin application process for next freshmen class

The Mission Collegiate High School (MCHS) is about to begin the application process for next year’s freshmen class and invites parents of Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) eighth graders to learn more about the school.

MCHS provides a more structured student support system and smaller learning community than traditional high schools. The freshmen class is limited to 125 students. Through MCHS, students will have the opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree, or have enough college credit to enter a four-year college/university as a junior. Up to 60 college credits can be earned while at MCHS, at no charge.

MCHS is designed to support first generation college goers, economically disadvantaged students, at-risk students, and English Language Learners.

Mission CISD parents of current 8th grade students who would like to learn more about this opportunity to give their child a leg up toward a college education are encouraged to attend one of the following informational meetings to be held at the Mission High School Cafeteria: March 18, 6:00-7:00 p.m., and March 19, 6:00-7:00 p.m.

If a parent cannot make it to the meeting, they are encouraged to call Mission Collegiate High School for information on a possible makeup meeting.  It is important that a parent interested in sending their child to MCHS attend one of the informational meetings in order to gain a clear understanding of how the school operates and the expectations of the early college high school program.

Contact MCHS for more information about the upcoming parent meetings or their educational programs at 323-6120.
