Precision manufacturing students advance to state competition

                Six students who are involved in precision manufacturing coursework at Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) are advancing to the state SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference competition to be held the first week of April in Corpus Christi, Texas. The students are advancing based upon their performance at the District level competition, which involves schools from throughout the area.

                In the manual machining area, Josue Davila and Ricardo Dela Garza are advancing. Davila placed first at District. Dela Garza placed third to qualify for state.

                Corbin Garza will be competing in Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Programming.  He placed first at District.

                The CNC team of Brandon Rocha and Manuel Balderas placed first at District and is advancing. Balderas is actually a Mission High School student taking his precision manufacturing courses at VMHS.

                Jack Cavazos placed third at the District level competitions and is advancing to state in the welding competition.
