Students in the GEAR UP program at Veterans Memorial High School had the opportunity to do some extra college exploration before the school year ended. They had two out-of-Valley college trips that took them to the University of Texas-San Antonio and Texas State University in San Marcos. Pictured are students on the Texas State University campus.
Throughout the school year, the GEAR UP students also get visited by guest speakers to help them on their road to college. The topic included by one recent guest speaker was “College 101: What the College Brochures Don’t Tell You!” The speaker provided information on college life and what they should consider when going away to college.
