Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) officials are reminding parents of a big change to summer school programs for this year. Instead of holding all the summer school programs in June, the district has moved the bulk of the summer school programs to begin in late July and run into mid-August.
“We are moved most of our summer school programs closer to the beginning of the school year,” explained Ricardo López, superintendent of Mission CISD. “Plus we have changed some of their focus. It is not just about providing the additional help students may need, but we will also be giving them a jump start on the new school year. We hope this will really help students begin the year with more of their knowledge fresh in their minds.”
Campuses will be contacting parents, as needed to address summer school needs.
The elementary jump start summer programs will begin on July 22 and run through August 14.
The junior high school jump start summer programs will begin on August 4 and end on August 15.
The high school jump start programs will begin on August 4 and end on August 15.
The first day of school for the 2014-2015 school year is Monday, August 25.
