MHS students earn spots in All-Region Jazz Band

                Three members of the Mission High School (MHS) Eagle Band has earned positions in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region 15 All-Region Band.

                Emily Gonzalez-Torres, tenor sax; Adan Coronado III, alto sax; and Pedro Silva, tenor sax (pictured left to right) will now perform with the All-Region Jazz Band on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Nikki Rowe High School, at 4:00 p.m.

                A total of students from MHS and Mission Collegiate High School (MCHS) went through the audition process this past weekend (September 20). They are: Adan Coronado III, alto sax; Pedro Silva, tenor sax; Angel Gomez, bass guitar; Jesus Olivares, tenor sax; Emily Gonzalez-Torres, tenor sax; Jin Gao, alto sax; Lucy Miranda, MCHS, alto sax; Luis De La Fuente, alto sax; Jaime Garza, tenor sax; Robert Rodriguez, bari sax; Alma Zamora, piano.

                “I’m proud to be associated with these outstanding students,” said Dieg Sandoval, MHS director of bands. “The band motto to “Believe, Commit, Become” comes to mind when I see these young musicians achieving something in the music world that entails such a tough process.” Sandoval also said it is a team effort when it comes to any student success that includes the staff and parents.
