MHS choir programs are branching out

Singing in the choir is not just a girl thing. That is one of the main ideas behind a new choral group at Mission High School (MHS). Surround Sound is an offshoot of the school’s Maroon Tunes jazz choir.  One of their goals is to help encourage more young men in the district to join a choir program and experience how much fun it is to sing in a choral group.

Not only will the perform at district junior high schools and elementary schools, Surround Sound is open to performing at community events and during the upcoming holiday season. They also plan to perform in the Men’s Choral Festival to be held at The University of Texas-Pan American in February.

If you are interested in trying to book this group for a performance, you can contact the MHS choir director, Kat Callaway at 956-323-8098, or through email at [email protected].

Surround Sound members are pictured here braving the heat, humidity, and the mosquitoes to perform the National Anthem at the recent 9/11 memorial 5K event at the Mission Hike and Bike Trails.
