The Mission CISD secondary coordinator for English Language Arts (ELA) Maria Villarreal, is helping re-invigorate the area Coalition of Reading and English Supervisors of Texas (CREST). Villarreal serves as the CREST regional representative for the Rio Grande Valley area. As the regional representative, she has been working to build upon inter-school district cooperation with a goal to improve upon the sharing of information that supports literacy instruction in the area.
In addition to her role as the CREST regional representative, Villarreal has also recently served as a presenter to the group on STAAR assessment insights.
This is another example of how Mission CISD and its employees are leading the way in education in the Rio Grande Valley.
