Mission Mayor Congratulates Mission FFA students

                Mission Mayor Norberto “Beto” Salinas recently awarded the Mission High School (MHS) FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team with Official FFA Carhartt jackets for their outstanding accomplishments this school year. Salinas extended an invitation to the group to visit him in his office in order to congratulate the students personally for their successful competition season.

                The MHS FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team won the state semi-finals championship and placed 8th overall in the state finals at this year’s Texas FFA Leadership Development Events held at Sam Houston State University. The students began the statewide tournament with 260 teams in the event which focuses on creating situations for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication, agriculture knowledge, FFA organizational knowledge, and conducting meetings following Robert’s Rules of Order.

                This school year, the Mission FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team won the Rio Grande Valley FFA District championship, Area 10 Association reserve championship, state semi-final championship, finishing 8th overall in the state finals.

                The team thanks the City of Mission and Mayor Salinas for his continued support of this team throughout the year.

                The Mission High School FFA Chapter was recently named the largest FFA chapter in the Rio Grande Valley FFA District. The Texas FFA is one of the nation’s largest state FFA Associations with more than 106,000 members and more than 1.045 FFA chapters. FFA gives students the opportunity to apply practical classroom knowledge to real world experiences through local, state, and national competitions.
