Mission CISD parade entries earn awards

Mission, Texas- Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) was well represented in the 2015 Texas Citrus Fiesta Parade of Oranges through the participation by many schools and school groups. A total of 13 district parade entries earned awards from parade organizers.

In the elementary school float category, the Leal Elementary School student council float earned first prize. The Castro Elementary School student council float earned second place. Third place went to the Cavazos Elementary School girls scouts.

In the general float category, the Mission CISD Board of Trustees float won third place. This was the first time a district-level float has been entered into the annual parade.

Mission Collegiate High School (MCHS) also entered a float in the Parade of Oranges for the first time. Not only was it their first float, but they choose to build a float for the valley products category, which presents very unique challenges. The MCHS float came in second place.

District entries also swept the top three spots in the non-military marching unit category. First place went to the Mission High School High Flyers. Second place went to the K. White Jr. High School cheerleaders. The K. White Jr. High School Hawk Divas drill team won third place.

The Mission High School JROTC placed first in the military marching unit category of the parade.
